Tampa Catholic High School

At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year St. James created a Makerspace in the school providing the students the opportunity to explore, design, and learn. Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent.

The space opened in October and is located in a classroom in the middle school hallway. In this space, the students explore all of the areas of STREAM by participating in some themed activities that have been planned to meet a variety of standards in all of the grades. There is also student-driven time for the students to explore the areas working on projects of their choosing.

6A Cup Stacking Challenge

The students were split into 4 groups and challenged to use just 25 cups to make the tallest tower they could. The purple and green groups tied with towers that were over 6 feet tall.
